A Day at the Zoo
On a sunny Saturday, Tomás woke up excited because he was going to visit the zoo with his parents. He had been looking forward to this day for weeks, and it had finally arrived. After quickly eating breakfast, he got into the car with his backpack and tiger cap, ready for the adventure.
Upon arriving at the zoo, Tomás was amazed by the number of animals he saw. First, they visited the lions, which were lazily resting under the sun. Then, they went to see the elephants, which were playing with their trunks. Tomás could not believe the diversity of animals at the zoo.
Everything was going well until they reached the monkey area. While Tomás watched in fascination as the monkeys jumped from branch to branch, one of the monkeys, a small capuchin, noticed the tiger cap Tomás was wearing. Suddenly, the monkey quickly jumped and, in a blink of an eye, snatched Tomás’ cap and climbed to the top of a tree.
Tomás, surprised and upset, ran to the tree and tried to get the monkey’s attention to get his cap back, but the monkey just kept putting it on and taking it off, playing with it. Tomás’ parents approached and, seeing the situation, suggested they seek help. They went to talk to a zoo employee, who told them they would try to get the cap back, but it might be difficult.
While they waited, Tomás watched the monkey. He noticed that the monkey seemed happy with the cap, playing and jumping with it on. However, when the zoo employees tried to retrieve the cap, the monkey got nervous and sad, clinging to it tightly.
Tomás, seeing the monkey’s reaction, felt touched. He decided he didn’t want the monkey to be sad. He told the employees not to worry about the cap, that the monkey could keep it. The employees were surprised by Tomás’ generosity and thanked him for his understanding.
Tomás and his parents continued their tour of the zoo, visiting the giraffes, penguins, and pandas. Although Tomás regretted losing his tiger cap, he felt happy to have done something good for the monkey.
At the end of the day, while they were heading home, Tomás thought about how important it was to share and make others happy, even animals. He was proud of his decision and knew he would always remember that special day at the zoo.
