Samuel’s Dirty Clothes
Samuel López is an nine-year-old boy who loves playing soccer. One day, he decided to go to the park to play with his friends. The weather was perfect for playing, and Samuel was very excited. The match began, and everyone played with a lot of energy. Suddenly, the sky clouded over, and it started to rain. But Samuel and his friends didn’t want to stop playing. The rain made the field muddy, but that didn’t bother them. They continued playing and having fun. The game was very close, and the score was tied. There were only a few minutes left before the game ended. Samuel ran with all his might towards the goal with the ball. When he was close, he slid on the ground to push the ball and score the goal. He did it! Samuel scored the winning goal. All his friends cheered and shouted with joy, but Samuel was completely covered in mud. His clothes were insultingly dirty; it looked like he was stained with chocolate. His shirt, pants, and shoes were all totally brown. Samuel knew his mom wouldn’t get mad if he got his clothes a little dirty, but this time the clothes were indecently dirty. When he got home, his mother saw him and rolled her eyes. “Samuel, look at how you’ve left your clothes!” she said with a mix of surprise and amusement. “Today you’re going to learn how hard it is to wash clothes.” Samuel’s mother taught him how to wash clothes by hand. She showed him how to use soap and scrub the clothes in a washbasin with water. Samuel put all his dirty clothes in the washbasin and started washing. He scrubbed and rinsed each garment with effort. While he washed, Samuel thought about how much fun the game had been, but also about the effort it took to clean the clothes. After a long time, Samuel finished washing all his clothes. Samuel learned an important lesson that day. He understood that playing and getting dirty is fun, but it’s also important to be responsible and clean up afterward. Next time he plays soccer, Samuel will be more careful and try not to get so dirty. But he will always remember the winning goal and the lesson his mother taught him that day.
